6th Form Prefects will be holding a cake sale this Friday to generate funds for Macmillan who provide medical, emotional, practical and financial support and aim to make sure no one suffers cancer alone.
With over 2.5 million people in the UK living with cancer, our students decided they need to help so they have organised a cake sale so the whole school community can be involved in generating much needed funds.
Cakes will range from 20p up to 50p; every bit helps.
Congratulations to Sixth Former Adria Dongo Munoz for achieving a Silver Award in the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge, putting him in the top 14% of over 7000 entries. Adria hopes to go on to study Chemical Engineering at Cambridge next year.

St Edmund’s Catholic Academy held its annual Presentation Evening last night with celebrity guest Kristian Thomas, England and Great Britain Olympic gymnast and former student of our Academy.
Principal, Mrs Maggie Hughes, expressed her delight that the Academy has achieved outstanding results at all levels this year, as was reflected in the certificates and awards presented to students.
Kristian Thomas presented over 150 students with shields and certificates for progress and achievement.
Mrs Hughes commented to the students: “Back in Sept 2011, when you started in Year 7, it was predicted that 54% of you would have 5 or more A*-C grades including English and Maths at the end of Year 11. This summer 60% of our Year 11 have attained this standard with nearly 70% achieving A* – C grades in at least 5 subjects. You exceeded our predictions and I am very proud of you”. Every student in Y13 passed their exams. 100% pass rate again in 2016.
The evening ended with an inspirational speech from Kristian Thomas and a wonderful drinks reception to conclude the night.
Our Open Evening and our Open Mornings provide an excellent opportunity to visit our Academy, discover more about studying at St Edmund’s and even see the Academy in action.
