St Edmund’s Celebrates World Teachers’ Day – 5th October 2016

5th October 2016Mrs D Curtis

World Teachers’ Day is a day to celebrate teachers and the central role they play in guiding young people through the life-long learning process. The responsibility for educating future generations is not an easy one, therefore, it is imperative that on days such as this, support is shown for those who have dedicated their lives to the future of our students.

Zach Furgusson, Head Boy, and Natasha Dawes, Head Girl, showed the appreciation of all our students by sending the teaching staff a certificate of appreciation to acknowledge the positive impact they have, not only on our students, but on society as a whole.

Thank you to all our teaching staff for continuing to nurture the students of St Edmund’s, in building the foundations for their future.

St Edmund’s Wins Highly Commended

3rd October 2016Mrs D Curtis

Tettenhall and District Horticultural Society judges have declared St Edmund’s win Highly Commended in the Best School Garden Competition 2016.

Mrs Rous, our retired science teacher, works tirelessly with our Gardening Club members to ensure our garden continues to flourish.

The Academy was judged on cultivation and freedom from perennial weeds, children’s knowledge, enthusiasm and involvement and the quality and variety of planting.

The judges were very impressed by our small and well maintained garden, how we use our herbs in our food served to our students and our home made compost used in our vegetable beds.
