St Edmund’s Charity Walk 2016

20th July 2016S Huynh

Over 500 pupils and many staff members completed an 8 mile walk on Friday 15th July, to raise money for various charities.

By simply running and walking to Wombourne and back, along the old railway track, so far we have raised a total of £1668.39.

This is a long standing tradition at St Edmund’s Catholic Academy when the whole school community comes together to help generate funds to support local, national and international charities.

PC Whittaker and  WPC Jackie Johnson from Tettenhall Police Station were invited to support the Academy this year.

Following the walk Lay Chaplain Mrs Ferris said;

“I would like to thank all of you who took part in the charity walk. You are amazing. It’s great to see so many students and staff taking part in such a worthy cause.”

All money raised will be donated towards: The Haven, Young Minds and Mary’s Meals.

Jack’s Slush Puppy Proposal

14th July 2016S Huynh

Jack Rathoor in year 10 put forth the concept of having a slush puppy machine in our school canteen.

This thought was advanced in a school council meeting with Mrs Canavan.

Mrs Smith who is Jack’s mentor and Clerk to the Board of Director, Mrs Raj who is the Business Director of the school recommended to Jack that in the event that he could do some research and do a presentation on his idea.

In Jack’s presentation and interview he was certain of his arrangement to improve the canteen. He said that you can get sugar free slush puppies and that the pupils will feel cheerful about the school showing signs of improvement.

Jack likewise said that there would be a point of control of what number of slush puppies you can purchase,the breaking point would be 2 in a day.

Well done Jack, your presentation was fantastic and we will know the outcome of the decision soon.

Our last opponent was Wood Green from Sandwell, who we successfully beat.

Well done girls you all tried your hardest and played well as a team. Everyone enjoyed the day and we are proud of your achievements.
